Traveling Reunion update
Posted by sundruid on February 3, 2009
Hi MHS Grads & Spouse and Friends of MHS Grads: It appears our first memorandum to you concerning the 2009 MHS Traveling Reunion in Primm was a little (we hope only a little) confusing. The group rate for the rooms is good for the nights of Monday, May 4 and Tuesday, May 5 The Reunion activities are planned for Monday (thus early Monday arrival is appropriate) and Tuesday – thus it is planned that we will check out Wednesday, May 6. OK? Sorry about the confusion!

2009 MHAA Traveling Reunion
Posted by sundruid on January 19, 2009
Hello to all! We hope everyone had a Good 2008 and looking forward to a Great 2009. May is around the corner, so it is time to get the 2009 MHAA Traveling Reunion on our calendars, if not already there, and firm up our plans to attend!! After our reunion last spring in Oklahoma City, several persons mentioned having it closer to Medford in 2009. We, (LeRoy and Marlene Boyer) have inquired around and as of today, we can find no one that has indicated to us that any plans have been made to host the reunion in the Medford area in 2009. That being the case (and as many suggested at the OKC Reunion), Bill Postlewaite has made arrangements to hold the 2009 MHAA Traveling Reunion in Primm, Nevada. A block of rooms for the group has been arranged for the 2009 Reunion as follows: Group: Medford Reunion Group Arrival Date: 05/04/09 – Monday Departure Date: 05/05/09 – Tuesday Hotel: Primm Valley Resort Room Rate: $39.95 + tax [Single or double] The group rate of $39.95+ tax is for the Primm Valley Deluxe Room. Bill found the rate less expensive on Monday and Tuesday than on weekends; thus the Monday and Tuesday arrival and departure dates. If you plan to arrive early and/or leave later, please be advised that the Pre and Post Dates will be at prevailing rack rates. To make your reservations, call 1-800-386-7867 and refer to the group code SCM0505. The cut-off date for reservations for the above rate is April 26, 2009. Medford High School had great weather for Homecoming 2008. The Homecoming Committee carefully planned and worked to make the 2008 Homecoming “another success story”. Really great to be from and call Medford our “hometown” even though many of us live elsewhere. We certainly hope to see many, many of you at Primm on Monday and Tuesday, May 4-5, 2009, for another fantastic MHAA Traveling Reunion. PLEASE CALL AND MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS. LeRoy and Marlene Boyer

The 2006 Alumni Committee members met for the first time this year at the home of Evelyn Keith on Monday, January 9, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. Members present were Donna Frazier, Class of 1982, President; Sheryl Hern Schmitz, Class of 1965, Vice-President; Evelyn Osburn Keith, Class of 1955, Secretary; Darla Subera, Class of 1961, Treasurer; and Norma Osburn, Class of 1954; Member at Large. The football game on Friday night will be Medford vs Waynoka at 7:30 p.m. Activities will be planned for Saturday.
Discussion was held on sending postcards now to the alumni membership about the Homecoming date for 2006. It would cost $220 to mail them not counting the cost of printing. It was decided to put the date on the mhaa.org web site, the mhaa groups e-mail along with the notice in the Medford paper of the date.
Darla Subera reported the amount in the checking account is $3,931.54. It was also noted two second semester scholarships will be paid this month to Bradley States for $500 and Andrea Conley Johnson for $500.
Donna Frazier reported Debbie Hula Kretchmar, Class of 1970 will be Parade Chairman and Terri Bailey Misak, Class of 1982 will be Registration Chairman for 2006.
Discussion was held on ways to draw more people to the Banquet. It was decided to try to get entertainment from the classes of 80’s, 90’s, and 2000’s and to have several alumni entertain instead of having a speaker in hopes it will draw in some of the younger alumni to the banquet. If there are any volunteers in the crowd, please let us know.
Discussion was held to Honor all MHS Alumni Classes that end in 6. Therefore the classes of 1926, 1936, 1946, 1956, 1966, 1976, 1986, 1996, and 2006 will be honored this year. We will start in April putting articles and pictures in the Medford Patriot Star about these classes. Anyone that has pictures and articles to share about these classes should contact Evelyn Keith at 580-395-2392 or e-mail information to ekeith@wiredok.com.
The next meeting will be held on March 6, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at the home of Evelyn Keith.

Homecoming 2006 Huge Success
Posted by sundruid on April 20, 2007
The 2006 Homecoming had wonderful weather and the two-day events were well attended. The events started on Friday evening with the All Sports Club Buffet at the Medford School Cafeteria where many grads met, ate, and visited. Terri Bailey Misak was in charge of the registration. The football game followed at Cardinal Field with the game between the Medford Cardinals and the Waynoka Railroaders. The Cardinals were victorious with a score of 54-26. The winner of the DVD/VCR player, given away at half-time by the Alumni Association, was Julie Erhard Simons, Class of 1958.
Saturday morning bright and early the streets down town were buzzing with people getting ready for the parade. Debbie Hula Kretchmar directed the parade. “Thanks for the Memories” was the theme this year and the floats were extra good with all classes following the theme. The parade details are in another article in this newspaper.
The Busy Moms reported this was the most they had ever served for the BBQ. They thought they had served around 350-375. The Civic Center was buzzing’ with visiting old and new friends, picture taking, and eating good food. The Busy Moms use all proceeds on their many projects that benefit our town.
The Alumni Banquet was held at 5 p.m. at the Medford School Cafeteria under the direction of Jeannette Feist Loch. Medford Floral/Lunch Box catered the meal and decorated the tables with dark green tablecloths and beautiful fall floral arrangements. The arrangements were given away as prizes. There was a good crowd and 125 meals were served. Donna Frazier, Alumni President introduced all officers, committee chairmen, Luann Keith Przybylski and Trisha Tebow Sterling who were in charge of the video presentation; and Sarah Blubaugh, football queen and Cody Pratt, football captain. Donna then introduced Jason Sternberger, Superintendent. Mr. Sternberger gave an interesting report on the Medford Public Schools.
The President Donna Frazier called the business meeting to order. The minutes of the 2005 meeting was read by the Secretary, Evelyn Osburn Keith. Darla Webster Subera gave the treasurer’s report.
Donna reported on the following items: (1) The alumni association is covered on the City’s liability insurance policy for the combination Homecomig and Fun Fest Day. (2) There were four college scholarships given to seniors last spring. The recipients were Kenneth Wittum, Kaci England, Cody Misak, and Tiffany Farney. (3) A one day Homecoming in the future would depend on being able to schedule a football game on a Saturday. (4) A donation was given in memory of Marjorie M. Andrews Mast, by her sister Vera E. Andrews Jacobs. A scholarship will be given in Marjorie’s name in 2007. (4) Donna reported all of the present officers have agreed to serve the association for another year, which received a round of applause. The association voted to approve the same slate of officers for another year. (5) Donna asked for any comments or suggestions from the association members. There were no comments or suggestions from the audience.
One of the highlights of the year was “The Alumni of the Year” award that was started this year. The criteria and explanation for this award was read by Evelyn Osburn Keith. It is printed in another article in this newspaper. The prestigious award, presented by Donna Frazier, was given to Linda Currier Brown, Class of 1971. Linda was honored by the association and presented a framed certificate and a floral arrangement.
Another highlight of the evening was Chad Smith and Casey Smith when they wooed us with many songs they had written and also included was the “The Auctioneer Song”.
Jeannette Feist Loch presented prizes to the following graduates: Earliest Female Graduates, Eleanor Ciskowski Arterburn and Madelyn Whitley Wilson, both ladies with the Class of 1936; Earliest Male Graduate, Harry Frieouf, Class of 1936; Youngest Female Graduate, Tricia Tebow Sterling, Class of 1997; Youngest Male Graduate, Casey Smith, Class of 2000; Graduate Traveling the Most Miles, Evelyn Ohler Holman from San Jose California, Class of 1956.
One of the highlights of the evening was an awesome video presentation by Luann Keith Przybylski and Trisha Tebow Sterling honoring the classes ending in 6. The classes honored were the classes of 1936, 1946, 1956, 1966, 1976, 1986, 1996, and 2006. Songs of their decade were played along with many pictures. It was so cool! The theme for 2006, “Thanks for the Memories” was highly appropriate for the year. We are looking forward with anticipation to Homecoming 2007.

Nominations for ALUMNI OF THE YEAR
Posted by sundruid on April 20, 2007
The executive committee of the Alumni Association has talked about honoring successful alumni for this next year. We got a jump-start at doing this when we received an unsolicited nomination of one of our students that graduated from MHS. After investigating further and reading this persons resume, we decided the graduate worthy of such an award. Before I announce whom the winner is I wanted to give you a little criteria for this award.
To receive this award you must first be nominated by someone other than the executive committee.
The nomination must be in writing and mailed to the executive committee of the MHS Alumni Association at P. O. Box 73, Medford, OK 73759.
Included in the nomination you must give the reasons you think this person is worthy of the award.
- A resume should be sent of the person being nominated.
- The person you are nominating must have graduated from Medford High School.
- The person making the nomination must sign the letter.
- The nomination must be postmarked no later than May 1st of each year, to be awarded at the alumni banquet in the fall during football Homecoming.
- The executive committee (which includes the MHS Alumni Officers and Committee Chairmen for that year) will meet and decide the recipent/s for that year.
- There could be more than one award a year if the committee feels the nominations received are equal.
- The award is not only for the business profession, but also for other professions, occupations, humanitarian, etc.
- This award will be called THE Alumni of the Year.
We know this task will be difficult because we have a lot of students that have graduated from MHS that are successful in many walks of life. We hope we are up for the challenge the nominations will present to us. We will publish the criteria for this award in the local newspaper and on the MHAA Web Site.
